Golden Warriors Show Their Support: NRL Team Rocks Blue for MND Awareness

The North Queensland Cowboys, affectionately known as the Warriors, are showing their heartfelt support for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) awareness this month. In a powerful display of solidarity, the team will proudly wear a striking blue accent on their training jerseys throughout June, aligning with the national ‘Beanies for MND’ campaign.
This initiative, deeply personal to many in the NRL community, aims to raise vital funds and awareness for research into MND and support for those living with the devastating condition and their families. MND, also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in some regions, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It gradually robs individuals of their ability to move, speak, breathe, and swallow, while their minds remain alert and aware.
The ‘Beanies for MND’ campaign, founded by former NRL player Jimmy Maher after his father was diagnosed with MND, has become a significant fundraising event across Australia and New Zealand. The simple act of wearing a beanie – and donating – has raised millions of dollars over the years, providing crucial support for research and patient care. The Cowboys’ participation further amplifies the campaign’s reach and impact, engaging fans and encouraging wider community involvement.
